Frequently asked questions relating to scripts and text in Teleprompter Pro.

Importing Documents & Scripts

Common questions when importing documents into Teleprompter Pro:

I Can’t Find my Document

If you’re unable to locate your document when importing:

  • Verify that your document is on your device: Double check that you have your document accessible on your device. Try navigating to your document directly from the app or location it’s stored in, such as Mail, Google Drive, Dropbox, Word or any other app. You can use the Share button to share your document directly from almost any app.
  • Check the Files app: Open the Files app on your device, then try to locate your document using the browse or search options.
  • Enable your locations in Files: Open the Files app on your device, then navigate to Browse to see your Locations list, then tap the ... menu to see if you have extra Locations options available.
  • Copy & Paste: As a quick workaround, you can copy and paste the text from your document into a new script in Teleprompter Pro.

My Document is Greyed-out or Not Selectable

If you’re unable to select your document to import, or it’s greyed-out:

  • Check the Format: Your document needs to be saved in a compatible format. You may need to save or export your document in a compatible format.
  • Check your Security Policy: If you’re using a sharing service like Google Drive or Dropbox provided by an organisation such as your employer, they may have a security policy preventing your documents being shared with 3rd party apps.
  • Check your Privacy Settings: If you’re using a sharing service like Google Drive or Dropbox and you have enabled Face ID or Touch ID to protect your documents, this may prevent your documents being shared with 3rd party apps.

My Script is Blank

If you’re importing a document, but it appears blank in Teleprompter Pro:

  • Check the Format: If your document is a PDF, it’s likely formatted in a way to prevent the text being imported by software like Teleprompter Pro. This is common for screenplay type scripts provided by services like Actors Access. You may attempt to copy and paste the text, or take a screenshot to copy and paste the text.
  • Scanned Documents: Scanned documents are images that do not contain text. On newer versions of iOS and Mac, you may attempt to copy and paste the text, or take a screenshot to copy and paste the text. Learn about PDF compatibility →
